Use a program....
When i first started i used basic html but now i use programs like adobe's Dreamweaver CS3. It makes everything a breaze.. there are also a lot of webpages on how to build your own like:

You can find the allowed file types and size limits for each file inside your xm.com admin panel.
As to the making of your website, you must have basic knowledge of html to work on your pages and then upload to our servers when they're ready. You may try searching google for html tutorials.
