Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy is expected to meet Pope Francis in the Vatican on Saturday, diplomatic sources said on Thursday, days after the pope said the Holy See was involved in a peace mission to try to end the war between Russia and Ukraine.

Fitch rating agency's scheduled review of sovereign debt rating on Italy.

(*) Pirelli said on Thursday it expected Italy would conclude its review of governance agreements involving the holding in the tyre maker by China's Sinochem after early June, pushing it to further postpone the appointment of its new board.

The world's largest cablemaker said its core earnings jumped 48% in the first quarter, beating estimates, as it continued to profit from global trends in energy transition and electrification.

(*) Italy's second-largest insurer UnipolSai reported on Friday a year-on-year 13.8% rise in first-quarter net profits lifted by higher insurance premiums, despite higher claims costs due to inflation.

(*) The Italian digital lender said on Friday its first-quarter net profit had halved to 7.8 million euros compared with a year earlier, hit by the mutual termination of a previous licence deal for the use of the bank's IT platform.

Italian shoemaker adopted a more cautious sales growth outlook for 2023, the group said on Thursday, as it recorded weaker reorders in its multi-brand channel in April and the first week of May.

(*) Italy's biggest debt recovery firm on Thursday raised its guidance for new contract intake in Southern Europe for 2023-2024 in spite of posting a net loss in the first quarter.
