Technical Analysis – USDCAD conveys a dominant negative bias

Posted on September 18, 2020 at 8:16 am GMT

USDCAD has somewhat paused after the pullback from the near 8-month low of 1.2993. The rebound in the price appears to be resting on the mid-Bollinger band at 1.3131, shadowed by a governing bearish structure. The dictating downward sloping 50- and 100-day simple moving averages (SMAs) and the recently completed bearish crossover of the 200-day SMA, may deliver an extra boost to a southward result. Negative signals continue to reign within the short-term oscillators, backing a deteriorating picture. The stochastic [..]

Posted on September 16, 2020 at 11:34 am GMT

USDCAD has been trending upwards over the last two weeks following the bounce off a fresh eight-month low of 1.2993. However, a strong resistance around the 1.3207 barrier has been a barrier to additional gains over the past week, shifting the spotlight back to the ascending trend line around 1.3150. The momentum indicators in the four-hour chart though are currently supporting the ongoing sideways move in the price. Specifically, the RSI is holding around the 50 level, while the stochastic is reversing lower after posting a bearish crossover within its %K [..]

Posted on September 11, 2020 at 7:07 am GMT

USDCAD has been developing within a descending movement since March 19 and is currently coupled within the 20- and 40-day simple moving averages (SMAs). After the rebound on the eight-month low of 1.2993, the price is trying to overcome the 1.3250 resistance. The technical indicators seem to be mixed as the MACD surpassed the trigger line in the negative territory, while the RSI is ticking south below 50. In the positive scenario, the pair could improve above the 40-day SMA, [..]

USDCAD has successfully manoeuvred over the Ichimoku cloud and above the 100-period simple moving average (SMA), which was last breached on July 20. The pair is currently piercing the medium-term restrictive line, drawn from March 19. The rising red Tenkan-sen line has overlapped with the blue Kijun-sen line, increasing positive momentum and assisting the pair in tackling the trend line.
