POLITICS
Italy's Foreign Minister said on Sunday his country saw Egypt as an important partner in stemming irregular migration across the Mediterranean and in bolstering its energy security.
Defence Minister Guido Crosetto said on Sunday the government was working on a new decree, the sixth so far, authorising the supply of arms to Ukraine. Without naming the precise weapons to be provided, he said they would include anti-missile defence systems, or "missiles that destroy missiles".
(*) Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni will visit Kyiv "in a few days", Industry Minister Adolfo Urso told Il Corriere della Sera in an interview on Monday.
ECONOMY
The Netherlands' central bank governor and ECB governing council member Klaas Knot said in an interview in La Stampa daily on Sunday that Italy's decision to raise the legal threshold for cash transactions to 5,000 euros was "not a good move" if it wants to counter tax evasion. Knot also said he was convinced the ECB's interest rate hikes were not putting Italy's economy at risk and, asked about recent criticism of the bank by Italian ministers, he said it was "always unfortunate" to hear politicians comment on ECB policy.

Treasury announces sale of BTP Short and BTPei bonds, with relative amounts to be auctioned on Jan. 26.

The chief executive of the Italian energy group Claudio Descalzi is on course to secure Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's backing for an unprecedented fourth term, sources told Reuters.
(*) The Italian energy group will sign a new agreement with Algeria's Sonatrach to increase to up to 35 billion cubic metres (bcm) the gas supply from the North African country, Il Messaggero reported.
INTESA SANPAOLO ISP.MI
Italy's biggest bank sought to reassure investors over its ability to hit shareholder reward targets on Friday, after shares in the lender fell on concerns about large asset disposals to cut risks.
(*) WEALTH MANAGEMENT
The partnership between Azimut Holding AZMT.MI and UniCredit CRDI.MI signed last month could spark further merger talks in the wealth management business in Italy this year, Il Corriere della Sera's L'Economia reported on Monday. France's Amundi AMUN.PA could tighten its grip on Anima Holding ANIM.MI, Mediobanca MDBI.MI is still interested in Generali's Banca Generali GASI.MI, BGN.MI, while Banca Mediolanum BMED.MI could look at a possible deal with Intesa Sanpaolo ISP.MI, the insert wrote.
UNICREDIT CRDI.MI
Chief Executive Andrea Orcel has slashed the lender's bill for external consultants since taking over, a source said on Sunday confirming a Financial Times report.
JUVENTUS JUVE.MI
The Serie A club have been deducted 15 points for the current season by an Italian soccer court investigating the club's transfer dealings, leaving the country's most successful team marooned in mid-table.
Juventus said on Sunday it had appointed Francesco Calvo as its chief football officer, heading the company's sport activities.

The group said on Friday it had successfully placed an 850- million-euro bond with a five-year maturity.

Members of two local unions at the farming and construction machine maker's factories in Wisconsin and Iowa reached an agreement over a new labor contract on Saturday, ending a strike that has been ongoing since last May, the United Auto Workers union said.
INDEL B INDB.MI
The Italian fridge maker expects to book in 2022 revenues of over 200 million euros, its chief executive told MF daily in an interview on Saturday. The group, which aims to post a 2023 performance in line with last year, will pursue potential acquisitions opportunities to support its growth, he added.

Italy's Economy Ministry could sign within days the memorandum of understanding sent by German carrier Lufthansa LHAG.DE that could pave the way for the start of exclusive talks for the privatisation of ITA Airways, Il Corriere della Sera reported on Sunday citing government sources.
