Turkey - Factors to Watch on June 27



ISTANBUL, June 27 (Reuters) - Here are news, reports and events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Monday.

The lira TRYTOM=D3 stood at 16.6005 against the dollar in early trade, strengthening from a close of 16.99 on Friday.

The main BIST 100 share index .XU100 rose 0.43% to close at 2,554.08 points on Friday.

GLOBAL MARKETS

Stocks gained in Asia on Monday amid improved risk sentiment after Wall Street rebounded strongly at the end of last week as oil prices eased, tempering fears of prolonged inflation and the accompanying aggressive Federal Reserve tightening.

LENDING MOVE

Turkey on Friday restricted lending to many companies with more than $1 million in foreign currency cash, the latest step to reverse a tumbling foreign-exchange rate by squeezing banks and businesses, triggering a lira rally of as much as 5%.

CABINET MEETING

President Tayyip Erdogan will chair a meeting of the cabinet of ministers (1200 GMT) and is expected to hold a news conference afterwards. He will also meet the speaker of the Austrian parliament (1100 GMT) and the Iranian foreign minister (1700 GMT).

MEETING WITH AZERI, KAZAKH MINISTERS

Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu and Transport Minister Adil Karaismailoglu will hold a trilateral meeting with their Azeri and Kazakh counterparts in Baku.

IRANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER

Cavusoglu will later hold a joint news conference with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amirabdollahian in Ankara (1500 GMT).

MAIN OPPOSITION

Kemal Kilicdaroglu, leader of the main opposition CHP, will chair a meeting of this party's central executive committee (1300 GMT).

NATO SUMMIT

NATO leaders will urge Erdogan to lift his veto over Finland and Sweden's bid to join the military alliance when they meet for a three-day summit on Tuesday, as the West strives to send Russia and China a signal of resolve.

Presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin said on Sunday that Erdogan will attend a round of talks with the leaders of Sweden and Finland, as well as NATO on Tuesday ahead of the summit in Madrid.
