UK Stocks-Factors to watch on Nov 22



Nov 22 (Reuters) - Britain's FTSE 100 .FTSE index is seen opening higher on Monday with futures FFIc1 up by 0.22%.

*ANGLO AMERICAN: Anglo American AAL.L , which divested its thermal coal mines this year after pressure from investors, plans to retain its steelmaking coal portfolio as it is confident that they will not press for an early exit, the mining group's chief executive said.

*ANTOFAGASTA: Chile's Antofagasta ANTO.L , one of the world's largest copper producers, said on Saturday it was "concerned" by rising political uncertainty in the Andean country.

*BREXIT: Progress was made on Friday in talks between the European Union and Britain on post-Brexit trade issues affecting Northern Ireland, the EU official in charge of the talks said on Sunday.

*ELECTRIC VEHICLES: Charging points for electric vehicles will be required to be installed in new buildings in Britain from next year.

*PLASTIC BAN: Single-use plastic plates and cutlery and polystyrene cups could all be banned in England, it said on Saturday.

*GOLD: Gold prices stabilised after hitting their lowest in nearly two weeks, as a retreating dollar lent some support to the metal.

*METALS: London copper prices fell, weighed down by a robust dollar and higher warehouse inventories and as U.S. policymakers debated whether to withdraw economic support faster than expected.

*OIL: Crude oil fell to seven-week lows, extending declines after the previous session's slide, on concerns about excess supply after Japan said it was weighing releasing oil reserves and over demand from a worsening COVID-19 situation in Europe.

*London stocks slipped on Friday, dragged down by commodity and travel shares on concerns around fresh COVID-19 curbs in Europe, while rising bets about rate hikes following strong economic data pushed the blue-chip index to its first weekly loss in four.
