POLITICS
(*) The foreign ministers of the Group of Seven (G7) major democracies called on all parties involved in the current conflict in the Middle East to avoid actions that could lead to an escalation, Italy's foreign minister said on Sunday.
(*) Seven European Union countries, including Italy, France, Germany and Spain have jointly called on the Venezuelan authorities to promptly publish the electoral rolls to ensure full transparency around last weekend's election, the Italian prime minister's office said on Saturday.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni discussed the crises in the Middle East and Venezuela with her French counterpart Emmanuel Macron on Friday, on the sidelines of the Olympics in Paris, their offices said.

BANKING, ENERGY AND LUXURY SECTORS
The government could impose a new tax on banks in case fiscal proceeds are low, La Repubblica reported on Saturday, adding that the gap to be covered by a new solidarity contribution would be about 4 billion euros.
Italy's government has no plans to introduce new windfall taxes on company profits, government sources said on Friday, after some Italian newspapers reported this week that the cabinet was discussing new levies on banks, insurers, energy companies and luxury goods firms.
TELECOM ITALIA (TIM) TLIT.MI
Pietro Labriola, chief executive of the Italian phone group, is confident of completing the sale of its Sparkle and Inwit INWT.MI stakes this year, he was quoted as saying by Il Giornale on Sunday. He added that a merger with Iliad or Poste Italiane's telecoms unit was theoretically possible if the conditions for a consolidation of the sector in Italy were met.
STELLANTIS STLAM.MI
(*) Share buybacks at the Franco-Italian carmaker have reduced the number of outstanding shares and increased the stake held by its three main shareholders Exor, the Peugeot family and the French government via Bpifrance, Il Giornale daily wrote on Monday.
Their combined shareholding is set to exceed 30% by the end of the year, following the start of a new share buyback tranche, it added.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on Friday upgraded and expanded its investigation into nearly 1 million Stellantis Dodge sport utility vehicles over faulty door locks and windows after a report of one death tied to the issue.

The steel pipe maker said on Friday it had completed a $1.2-billion share buyback programme.

The engineering company said on Monday its subsidiary NextChem had won a feasibility study for a sustainable aviation fuel project in Indonesia.

The gambling group is ready for international M&A deals "to be pursued with discipline," its CEO Guglielmo Angelozzi told the Corriere Economia insert on Monday.
"When we will have the right alignment and price, in a country with interesting regulations and an asset that we like, then we will move", Angelozzi added.
ACEA ACE.MI
A commission charged with evaluating the economic-financial aspects of Acea's proposal for Rome's waste-to-energy has given its approval to the 950 million euro project, Italian daily Il Sole 24 Ore reported on Saturday. The waste treatment fee will drop to about 179 euros from 185 euros in the submitted proposal, it added.
A2A A2.MI, ASCOPIAVE ASCI.MI
The Milan-based utility can get the resources to cover the recent acquisition of Enel's ENEI.MI power grid in the north from the sale of part of its gas grid network to Ascopiave, Milano Finanza reported on Saturday, adding A2A has already issued a hybrid bond to finance part of the deal with Enel.
DEFENCE TECH HOLDING DTH.MI
The Italian cyber-security group Tinexta TNXT.MI said on Friday it set price at 3.15 euros ($3.44) per share in context of takeover offer for the defence company.
