POLITICS
(*) At least 59 people died, including 12 children, when a wooden sailing boat carrying migrants to Europe crashed against rocks near the southern Italian coast early on Sunday, authorities said. Pakistan prime minister on Monday said over two dozen Pakistanis were believed to be among the victims.
(*) Italy's opposition centre-left Democratic Party (PD) picked Elly Schlein, a 37-year-old U.S.-Italian national who grew up in Switzerland, to be its new leader and rebuild the group after its election rout last year.
Italy wants to team up with France and Germany to "influence" and slow the pace of European Union laws on cutting car and truck emissions, Industry Minister Adolfo Urso said on Saturday.

Italy's second-largest bank is considering a pay rise of between 20% and 40% for Chief Executive Andrea Orcel, Italian daily Il Sole 24 Ore reported on Saturday, citing market sources.
(*) The head of the bank's remuneration committee and non-executive board member, Jayne-Anne Gadhia, resigned after an unsubstantiated leak accusation, the Financial Times reported citing four people with knowledge of the process.
TELECOM ITALIA (TIM) TLIT.MI
The company said on Friday it would provide KKR KKR.N with financial data that could help the U.S. fund improve its offer for TIM's network grid, as the current proposal "does not wholly reflect the value of the asset".
STELLANTIS STLAM.MI
CEO Carlos Tavares' 2022 pay fell 14% to 14.9 million euros, the maker of Fiat, Ram and Peugeot vehicles said in a filing on Friday.
SNAM SRG.MI
The Italian government will appoint a commissioner to speed up permits to build a new gas pipeline dubbed Adriatica Line, Il Messaggero reported on Sunday.
With a simplified process Snam could be able to complete the infrastructure in 2-3 years rather than 4 years, the newspaper said, confirming that the Adriatica Line would get EU funding.

A 655,000-barrel cargo of Venezuelan heavy crude chartered by a unit of Italy's Eni departed on Friday from a port operated by state-run PDVSA, shipping data showed, marking Venezuela's first export to Europe after a three-month pause.

The Peruvian unit of Italy's biggest power utility said on Friday that state-owned China Southern Power Grid is carrying out due diligence on the local unit for a possible purchase offer on its energy distribution operations.

(*) The asset manager said on Monday it would acquire an 80% stake in Castello, an alternative real estate asset management company whose main shareholder is the U.S. fund Oaktree, in a deal worth 60 million euros.
Poste Italiane PST.MI said on Friday it struck a shareholders' agreement with Gamma, a company of the Caltagirone group, to present a list of three candidates in view of the renewal of Anima's board of directors. According to Saturday's Corriere della Sera daily, the spirit of the agreement is to "safeguard the Italian nature (of Anima) alongside Banco BPM and the FSI fund".

Italy's Bourse said on Friday that 88.374% of the shares subject to the bid launched by Italian family holding company De Agostini on DeA Capital, its vehicle for financial investments, had been tendered as of the offer's final day.

M&A - ITA AIRWAYS
German airline Lufthansa LHAG.DE is expected to sign a preliminary deal with Italy's Economy Ministry to buy 40% of state-owned carrier in the second half of March, the Corriere della Sera daily reported on Saturday, citing government sources.
