POLITICS

The head of Italian utility IREN and the president of the northwestern region of Liguria have been arrested on corruption charges, prosecutors in the port city of Genoa said on Tuesday.



ECONOMY

ISTAT releases March retail sales data (0800 GMT).

Bank of Italy releases April data on Target 2 liabilities and European Central Bank funding to Italian banks.


DEBT

Treasury continues offer of new six-year 'Btp Valore', BTP bond for retail investors only; ends on May 10, subject to early closure.

Orders totalled 6.6 billion euros ($7.1 billion) at the end of the first two days, drawing far less demand than a similar issuance in late February, Milan bourse data showed.


COMPANIES

UNICREDIT CRDI.MI

UniCredit raised its investor reward guidance for the year, and said it would pay out even more in the following two, after reporting much higher than expected quarterly net income on Tuesday.


BANCO BPM BAMI.MI

Italy's Banco BPM beat forecasts on Tuesday with a 40% annual rise in first-quarter net profit, as rising revenues and falling loan-loss provisions more than offset an increase in costs.


FERRARI RACE.MI

Ferrari's core earnings rose 13% in the first quarter helped by sales of models such as the 2 million-euro ($2.2 million) Daytona SP3 limited-series luxury car and a greater contribution from personalised vehicles.


CAMPARI CPRI.MI

Campari will seek further M&A opportunities after completing the buyout of French cognac house Courvoisier, the new head of the Italian drinks group said on Tuesday.


LEONARDO LDOF.MI

Defence and aerospace group Leonardo reported on Tuesday rising orders and revenue in the first quarter of 2024, both pushed by the state-controlled group's electronics and helicopter sectors.

(*) The group is waiting to see the impact of Boeing's BA.N recent troubles on production, which could cost the Italian firm some 50 million euros in 2024, the group's CEO said on Tuesday.

The Italian engineering group said on Wednesday it had sold 0.7% of its ordinary shares through an accelerated bookbuilding procedure (ABB) at 7.28 euros per share. Maire sold the shares at the request of the beneficiaries of the long-term incentive plan 2021-2023.

Its Spanish unit Endesa ELE.MC said on Wednesday that its first-quarter net profit fell more than expected as margins in its electricity and gas businesses shrank.

Niagara Energy, controlled by investment firm Actis, bought around 2.9 billion shares for $0.47 apiece, giving it a 92.35% stake in Enel's power-generating unit in Peru, Enel Generacion said in a statement to Peru's market regulator.

Levi Strauss LEVI.N has settled its lawsuit accusing the Italian luxury fashion brand Brunello Cucinelli of infringing its familiar, trademarked rectangular pocket tab.

A2A said on Tuesday it acquired a majority shareholding in a solar venture, in a new step towards the construction of one of the largest photovoltaic plants in northern Italy.

The gas supplier, controlled by infrastructure fund F2i, wants to speed up its IPO plans and is preparing some preliminary meetings with investors in June, daily MF reported on Wednesday. The aim is to list its shares on the Milan bourse between the third and fourth quarters of this year.
