US Cash Grains-Corn basis steady-firm on slow farmer sales, soy bids mixed
CHICAGO, April 18 (Reuters) -Spot basis bids for corn were steady to higher at elevators and processors around the U.S. Midwest on Thursday on slow farmer sales and good buyer demand, grain merchants said.
* Spot soybean basis bids were mostly steady at processing plants and mixed at elevators.
* Spot corn basis bids firmed by five cents at an ethanol plant in Linden, Illinois, by two cents at two barge-loading river elevators in Illinois and by one cent at an elevator in Cincinnati, Ohio.
* Buyers continue to strengthen the corn basis to entice farmer selling during a seasonal lull where producers turn their attention to spring planting.
* Soybean basis bids fell by two cents at a river terminal in Seneca, Illinois, and firmed by one cent at an elevator in Cincinnati, Ohio.
* Rainfall in the Midwest is unlikely to slow planting, analysts notes say.
