NEW YORK - The blue-chip Dow hit a one-month high in a broad-based rally on Monday, as investors rotated out of AI-linked stocks, while focus turned to a key inflation print later in the week to sharpen bets around interest rate cuts this year.

NEW YORK - The dollar eased from a near eight-week high on Monday, with traders back on alert for intervention to support the yen after the Japanese currency flirted with the 160 per dollar level that had earlier drawn verbal warnings from Japanese authorities.

The dollar index =USD, which measures the greenback against a basket of currencies including the yen and the euro, fell 0.41% to 105.45

NEW YORK - U.S. Treasury yields were flat on Monday as investors awaited economic and inflation data later this week to assess whether a recent weakening in economic activity will continue, strengthening the case for a first interest rate cut by the Federal Reserve in the coming months.

TOKYO - Japanese government bond yields rose on Monday amid hawkish undertones in a summary of opinions from this month's Bank of Japan (BOJ) meeting, while the sliding yen increased pressure on the central bank to tighten monetary policy.

IRON ORE - Prices of iron ore futures extended losses on Monday to their lowest levels in more than two months, pulled down by signs of dull steel consumption in top consumer China and a stronger U.S. dollar.

The most-traded September iron ore contract on China's Dalian Commodity Exchange (DCE) DCIOcv1 closed daytime trade 3.11% lower at 795.5 yuan ($109.55) a metric ton.

BASE METALS - Copper eased on Monday, pressured by subdued demand in top consumer China and a significant upturn in deliveries to warehouses approved by the London Metal Exchange (LME) while some support was provided by a softer dollar.

OIL - Oil prices edged higher on Monday, spurred by the prospect of strong summer driving demand and as tensions in the Middle East and drone attacks on Russian refineries led to concerns about supply.
