STOXX STEADIES ON DEFENSIVE SUPPORT
Europe's region-wide STOXX 600 .STOXX steadied around three-week lows in early trading on Thursday, helped by gains across defensives sectors like healthcare, utilities and telecoms.
Moves were muted though, as uncertainty over interest rates kept traders side-lined ahead of Friday's inflation readings that could give fresh direction to markets following a strong run this year. The STOXX was last up 0.1%.
Tech .SX8P led sectoral fallers, down 0.8% as disappointing forecasts from Salesforce CRM.N over weak clients spending on cloud dampened the mood, hitting European peers SAP SAPG.DE and Sage SGE.L.
Autos .SXAP were little affected by the latest headlines over a tariff row between the EU and China. Brussels will postpone its decision on EV tariffs until after June 9's parliamentary vote to keep the issue out of the campaign.
