G1 Therapeutics falls as cancer treatment fails to meet late-stage study goal
** Shares of drug maker G1 Therapeutics GTHX.O fall 36.6% to $2.86 in extended trade
** Co says it will continue a late-stage trial on its experimental combination treatment using its approved lung cancer therapy Cosela with chemotherapy drugs gemcitabine and carboplatin for a type of breast cancer
** GTHX had previously said it will stop the study if it met its interim overall survival (OS) criteria; OS determines the duration of patient survival from the time of treatment initiation
** Co says final analysis evaluating OS is expected in Q3 2024
** Stock fell 43.8% in 2023
