ECONOMY

The European Commission said on Tuesday it had given a preliminary green light to Italy's request for a further instalment of post-COVID 19 recovery funds worth 16.5 billion euros.

Saudi Arabia's Riyadh has beaten Rome to host the Expo 2030 world fair, the results of a vote by the 182 members of the Bureau International des Expositions showed on Tuesday. The five-yearly event attracts millions of visitors and billions of dollars in investment.

ISTAT releases November consumer and business confidence data (0900 GMT); October and Q3 producer prices data (1000 GMT); September industry sales data (1100 GMT).

Treasury sells 2.5-3.0 billion euros 4.10% BTP bonds due Feb. 1, 2029; 3.0-3.5 billion euros 4.20% BTP bonds due March 1, 2034; 0.75-1.0 billion euros CCTeu bonds due April 15, 2026. Subscriptions close at 1000 GMT.

The Italian energy engineering and infrastructure company has won two offshore contracts in Brazil and Guyana worth around $1.9 billion in total, it said on Wednesday.

JP Morgan has downgraded the Italian spirit group to "underweight" from "neutral", and has cut its target price to 8.3 euros from 11 euros.


TELECOM ITALIA (TIM) TLIT.MI

Telecom Italia's top investor Vivendi VIV.PA is pressing ahead with plans to challenge the phone group's decision to sell its fixed line grid to KKR KKR.N, two sources with knowledge of the matter said, adding that a complaint will be likely filed in December.


LEONARDO LDOF.MI

The Spanish government has approved two loans totalling 3.15 billion euros to a consortium developing fighter jets within the international Eurofighter programme, the industry ministry said on Tuesday. Eurofighter Typhoon jets are built by a consortium that includes Spain's ITP Aero, European planemaker Airbus AIR.PA, Britain's BAE Systems BAES.L and Italy's Leonardo.

Production will stop until Jan. 8 at the automaker's Italian Cassino plant to prepare for the production of the electric Maserati Grecale model, MF newspaper reported on Wednesday, quoting trade union sources and adding that two other electric Alfa Romeo models could be produced in Cassino from 2025.

Shares in Italy's biggest telecoms towers firm rallied on Tuesday - closing up by 3.5% - on the back of renewed rumours about a possible acquisition of the company by private equity fund Ardian, the MF newspaper reported on Wednesday.
