Reducing Italy's stake in the energy company thanks to its share buyback scheme is a good idea, Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti said on Wednesday, raising the prospect of a plan that could cut public debt by some 2 billion euros.

Germany's defence firm Rheinmetall RHMG.DE sees Leonardo as its main partner in the creation of new heavy tanks for the Italian army and infantry fighting vehicles (IFV), the head of Rheinmetall's unit in Italy told a parliamentary committee on Wednesday.

Sosteneo, a joint venture controlled by the insurer, focused on renewable energy investments, has joined forces with Edison and Saipem to produce green hydrogen in the southern region of Puglia, Il Sole 24 Ore reported. Sosteneo bought for 3 million euros a 40% stake in Puglia Green Hydrogen Valley, a company due to develop two hydrogen plants in Brindisi and Taranto, with Edison holding another 45%, Saipem 10%, and Invitalia 5%, the paper said.

Budget furniture retailer Ikea will join British investment firm NextEnergy Capital, which is in exclusive talks to buy a stake in 3Sun Gigafactory, an Enel solar photovoltaic panel production site in Sicily, Italy, Corriere della Sera reported, adding that a deal could be signed before Christmas.
