ISTANBUL, May 23 (Reuters) -Here are news, reports and events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Thursday.

The lira TRYTOM=D3 was quoted at 32.1560-32.2300 against the U.S. dollar at0421 GMT, compared with Wednesday's close of 32.1980.

The main BIST 100 share index .XU100 closed 0.04% higher at 10,899.28 points on Wednesday.


GLOBAL MARKETS

Several key Asian share benchmarks fell on Thursday as markets digested the implications of policymakers in major economies preferring to take patient approach to monetary easing amid sticky inflation.


CENTRAL BANK RATES DECISION TRINT=ECI

The Turkish Central Bank holds its monthly monetary policy committee meeting and announces its interest rate decision, with all 16 respondents in a Reuters poll expecting it to leave its key rate unchanged at 50% as inflation peaks.


ARAB BANKING SUMMIT

International Arab Banking Summit to be held in Istanbul, with the chairs of the Union of Arab Banks and the Turkish Banking Association to speak at an opening session, along with Turkish Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek. (0600 GMT).


FOREIGN MINISTER

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will hold talks and news conferences with European commissioner for enlargement Oliver Varhelyi (1115 GMT) and Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil (1315 GMT).


CONSUMER CONFIDENCE TRCONC=ECI

The Turkish Statistical Institute will announce consumer confidence data for May (0700 GMT).


TREASURY BOND SALES

The Treasury will sell directly to banks two-year euro-denominated bonds and sukuk.


CENTRAL BANK DATA TRNFR=ECI

The central bank will announce its weekly data, including on forex reserves. (1130 GMT)


AI SUMMIT

Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacir will attend an "AI Tomorrow Summit" organised by the Artificial Intelligence Policies Association (0630 GMT).


PALESTINIAN STATE RECOGNITION

Speaking at an award ceremony in Ankara on Wednesday, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said he was very pleased with the decision by Norway, Ireland and Spain to recognise an independent Palestinian state.


TURKISH AIRLINES THYAO.IS

Turkish Airlines said its net profit rose to 6.93 billion lira ($215 million) in the first quarter from 4.42 billion lira a year earlier.


TUPRAS TUPRS.IS

Oil refiner Tupras said its first quarter net profit fell to 320.3 million lira in the first quarter from 2.81 billion lira a year earlier.


TOSYALI HOLDING

Turkish steelmaker Tosyali Holding plans to invest $1.5-2.0 billion a year in a global expansion drive involving Africa and Saudi Arabia, as well as potential acquisitions and partnerships in Europe and the Americas, its chairman told Reuters.
