US Cash Grains-Corn basis steady-firm at river terminals, processors
CHICAGO, May 20 (Reuters) -Spot basis bids for corn were steady to higher at river terminals, ethanol plants and other processors on Monday, and steady at interior elevators, spot checks showed.
* Soybean basis bids were steady to higher at river terminals and steady at elevators and processors as Chicago Board of Trade wheat, corn and soybean futures all rallied.
* The spot basis for corn rose by 5 cents a bushel at a processor in Blair, Nebraska.
* Basis bids for corn were 1 cent higher at a river terminal in Seneca, Illinois, while bids for soybeans were 2 cents higher at the facility, where grain is loaded onto barges for shipment to Gulf exporters.
* Soybean bids were also up 2 cents at a Savanna, Illinois, river terminal.
* Corn bids were up two cents at an ethanol plant in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
* Analysts polled by Reuters projected on average that the USDA would show the U.S. corn crop at 68% planted, up from 49% a week earlier but still the slowest pace since 2019.
* Analysts on average estimated planting of soybeans as 49% complete.
* Rains are seen delaying Midwest corn and soybean planting this week, though the moisture is expected to assist recently planted crops. Flooding in Brazil's Rio Grande do Sul state continued to impact the soybean crop.
