US Cash Grains-Midwest corn basis steady-easier; soy basis flat
CHICAGO, May 15 (Reuters) -Spot basis bids for corn were steady to weaker in the U.S. Midwest on Wednesday, reflecting increased pipeline supplies following a pickup in farmer grain sales in recent days as Chicago Board of Trade corn futures climbed to four-month highs.
* CBOT corn declined by mid-session on Wednesday but the benchmark July futures contract CN24 continued to hover near the highs set earlier this week. GRA/
* The spot basis fell by 8 cents a bushel at a corn processing facility in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and by 4 cents at a Savanna, Illinois, elevator on the Illinois River where grain is loaded onto barges for shipment toward the U.S. Gulf.
* Soybean basis bids were unchanged, spot checks showed on Wednesday.
* The U.S. soybean crush plunged in April to a seven-month low, missing all trade estimates, while soyoil stocks unexpectedly declined, according to the National Oilseed Processors Association's monthly crush report.
* NOPA members, which account for around 95% of soybeans crushed in the United States, crushed 166.034 million bushels of soybeans in April, down 15.5% from a record-high 196.406 million bushels in March and down 4.2% from a year ago.
* CBOT soybean futures SN24 pared gains after the NOPA data was released. GRA/
