US Cash Grains-Midwest corn basis steady-firmer; soy mostly flat
CHICAGO, May 16 (Reuters) -Spot basis bids for corn were steady to firmer in the U.S. Midwest on Thursday, a possible sign of slowing farmer grain sales as Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) corn futures CN24 retreated from a run-up to four-month highs.
* The corn basis firmed by 2 cents late on Wednesday at a processing site in Blair, Nebraska, where bids had fallen earlier this week. The corn basis held steady elsewhere, spot checks showed.
* For soybeans, the basis fell by a penny a bushel at a Cincinnati, Ohio, terminal elevator, while values were unchanged elsewhere.
* On the CBOT, July corn CN24 was headed lower for a third straight session, pressured by improving U.S. crop weather and disappointing weekly export sales data. CBOT wheat WN24 also declined while soybeans SN24 were mixed. GRA/
