US Cash Grains-Midwest corn, soy basis bids steady-weaker
CHICAGO, May 13 (Reuters) -Spot basis bids for corn and soybeans were mostly steady to weaker in the U.S. Midwest on Monday following a pick-up in farmer selling in recent days, dealers said.
* The corn basis fell by 2 to 5 cents at Midwest ethanol facilities and by 1 to 4 cents at several elevators along Midwest rivers that ship grain by barge toward exporters at the U.S. Gulf Coast.
* However, the corn basis firmed by 3 cents at a processing facility in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
* The soybean basis fell at Davenport, Iowa, on the Mississippi River, as well as at a Cincinnati, Ohio, elevator and at crushing plants in Morristown and Decatur, Indiana.
* Ahead of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly crop progress report due later on Monday, analysts surveyed by Reuters expected the government to show the U.S. corn crop as 49% planted and soybeans as 39% planted.
