Flights in Europe disrupted by French air traffic control strike

PARIS, Sept 16 (Reuters) - European flights faced widespread disruption on Friday as a French air traffic controllers' strike forced airlines to cancel half of those scheduled to arrive or depart Paris airports and others due to have flown over France. Strikes and staff shortages in the past few months have forced airlines to cancel thousands of flights, dashing their hopes of a summer rebound after widespread COVID-19 lockdowns, with disruption continuing into the autumn.

Italy asks bidders to recast proposals for Ita Airways

ROME, Aug 4 (Reuters) - Italy has asked bidders willing to take over Ita Airways to come up with improved proposals, the economy minister said on Thursday, because the government does not deem the current bids to be sufficient. Neither of the two rival bids currently fully met the government's goals for the privatisation of the company, Economy Minister Daniele Franco told a news conference.

KLM says it won't bring more passengers to Amsterdam Saturday

(Updates with details) AMSTERDAM, June 4 (Reuters) - KLM, the Dutch arm of Air France-KLM, said it would not bring any further passengers on Saturday from European destinations to Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport, its main hub. The airline, which had already cancelled dozens of flights to ease traffic pressure at the airport, said weather conditions and runway maintainance were preventing many aircraft from taking off and landing.
