Uniper's rocky road to German nationalisation

Sept 21 (Reuters) - Germany's government announced steps on Wednesday to nationalise gas importer Uniper UN01.DE , brought to its knees after long-term Russian partner Gazprom GAZP.MM withheld exports in the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Russia closed the important Nord Stream 1 export pipeline into Germany three weeks ago, saying Western sanctions were hindering operations.

E.ON says assessing government request to keep Isar 2 on standby

FRANKFURT, Sept 5 (Reuters) - German utility E.ON EONGn.DE on Monday said it is ready to deal with a government request to keep its Isar 2 nuclear plant in reserve mode, beyond the scheduled closure at the end of 2022. "With the plan now presented, the most important question will be to examine whether and how it is technically and organisationally feasible, because nuclear power plants in their technical design are not reserve power plants that can be variably switched on and off," it said.
