ISTANBUL, May 16 (Reuters) -Here are news, reports and events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Thursday.
The lira TRYTOM=D3 stood at 32.2200 againstthe U.S. dollar at 0411 GMT, firming fromWednesday's close of 32.2395.
The main BIST 100 share index .XU100 closed 0.15% lower at 10,158.63 points on Wednesday.
GLOBAL MARKETS
Asian stock markets rallied on Thursday, buoyed by Wall Street's surge to all-time peaks overnight after a milder U.S. inflation report raised expectations the Federal Reserve will deliver at least two rate cuts this year.
ERDOGAN PROGRAMME
President Tayyip Erdogan will host Georgian President Irakli Kobakhidze at the presidential palace and they will hold a joint news conference. (1515 GMT)
KOBANI TRIAL
An Ankara court is expected to announce its verdict in the trial of already jailed former pro-Kurdish party leader Selahattin Demirtas, among 108 people accused of instigating 2014 protests triggered by an Islamic State attack on the Syrian Kurdish town of Kobani. (0700 GMT)
CENTRAL BANK DATA TRNFR=ECI
The central bank will announce its weekly data, including on forex reserves. (1130 GMT)
OPPOSITION MEETING
Ozgur Ozel, leader of the main opposition CHP party, will hold talks with the new head of the opposition IYI Party, Musavat Dervisoglu. (0900 GMT)
PARLIAMENT SPEAKER
Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmus will visit the parliamentary group of his ruling AK Party. (1030 GMT)
TURKEY ON GAZA
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan told his U.S. counterpart Antony Blinken in a call on Wednesday that Israel's attack on the Gazan city of Rafah is unacceptable, a Turkish diplomatic source said.
GREECE ARREST
Greek police have arrested a Turkish national, the suspected leader of a criminal group wanted by Ankara for a range of crimes including manslaughter, Greek police and intelligence sources said on Wednesday.
